Centre hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal’s new medical research centre, due to open in September 2013, was one of the first major social projects in Canada to be financed after the financial crisis. Dr Jacques Turgeon, Sylvain Villiard and Dominic Chalifoux discuss how CHUM and its partners overcame the challenge of realising the project in such difficult circumstances, and what the hospital will be able to achieve with its new facilities.
