Consigned credit – payroll loans – is expanding hugely in Brazil. It has grown from $6bn in 2004 to $85bn as of December 2010 – representing 60 percent of personal credit in the Brazilian banking system. Banco BMG is a pioneer in this vital credit market, with more than 50 percent of its potential still to exploit.
