The general financial sentiment heading into this year has been that we are rapidly entering a new era “potentially marking the end of cheap money and a long period of low volatility,” according to a research paper authored by the Thinking Ahead Institute. With pension fund asset owners globally controlling $51.9trn, managing increasing macro uncertainty and systemic risk in the past year has been a daunting task to say the least.
